magnificent Taj Mahal

One of my favorite things is to travel. I have enjoyed this historical trip. I saw the Taj after a long long time...and it was mind blowing. I think I was only 7 years old when I saw the Taj but now when  I saw it looked even more beautiful and big. Amazing....

family trip to historical places....

Its been a while and I finally have sometime to put this up....yesssss!!!

On the 23th March we went for a trip to Agra and Fatehpur Sikri which is located in Uttar Pradesh. I love old monument and all the history there is to it. I especially like the Mughal history of India. Shah Jahan and Akbar surely build some very amazing building. There was so much detail to each monument. I can't imagine how long it took to build something in that era.

This is what I found about Fatehpur Sikri on Wikipedia.
" Fatehpur Sikri---The city was founded in 1569 by the Mughal emperor Akbar, and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire from 1571 to 1585.[1]After his military victories over Chittor and Ranthambore, Akbar decided to shift his capital from Agra to a new location 23 miles (37 km) W.S.W on the Sikri ridge, to honor the Sufi saint Salim Chishti. Here he commenced the construction of a planned walled city which took the next fifteen years in planning and construction of a series royal palaces, harem, courts, a mosque, private quarters and other utility buildings.[2] He named the city, Fatehabad, with Fateh, a word of Arabic origin in Persian, meaning "victory." it was later called Fatehpur Sikri.[3] It is at Fatehpur Sikri that the legends of Akbar and his famed courtiers, the nine jewels or Navaratnas, were born. Fatehpur Sikri is one of the best preserved collection of Mughal architecture in India.

This is the Buland Darwazza built by Akbar.
There were goats everywhere. Couldn't help but take pictures of them.
